  6. Darwin 1.4.1 corresponds with Mac OS X v10.1.  
  7. Notable changes to Darwin include:

  9. * Mac OS X v10.1 operating system improvements

  12. * Bootable Darwin CD
  13.     This is the first Darwin release with a bootable PowerPC image
  14.  
  15. * wget is replaced with curl
  16.  
  17. * apache_mod_hfs_apple included
  18.  
  19. * Common packages updated:
  20.     openssl, openssh, tcsh, apache, cron, fetchmail, procmail, 
  21.     sudo, and others.
  22.  
  23. * Better support for Intel-based ethernet cards on x86

  26. Licensing Information

  28. The contents of the Darwin 1.4.1 CD image are covered by several licenses:

  30. * The Apple-developed portions of the Source Code and corresponding binary 
  31.     package folders are covered by the Apple Public Source License 
  32.     Version 1.2.
  33.  
  34. * A few Apple-provided drivers are only available as binaries, and are 
  35.     covered by the Apple Binary Driver Software License Agreement.  
  36.     The drivers covered by this license are located in 
  37.     /System/Installation/apple_binary/ on the Install CD image.
  38.  
  39. *  Other portions of Darwin 1.4.1 may be covered by third party licenses.

  41. Please read all these licenses carefully before using any of this software, 
  42. as your use of this software signifies that you have read the licenses and

  45. Known Issues
  46. ----------------
  47. * Darwin 1.4.1 should not be installed onto a Mac OS X partition.
  48.     It is a goal for a future release of Darwin to be easily 
  49.     interchanged into a Mac OS X system.
  50.  
  51. * The contents of this CD cannot entirely be reproduced from the source
  52.     in anoncvs.opensource.apple.com.  It contains binary versions
  53.     of certain non-open source drivers.
  54.  
  55. * Tulip ethernet cards require a special driver.  
  56.     Tulip ethernet chips were used in the Beige G3, slot loaded 
  57.     iMacs, and the AGP-based PowerMac G4's. The driver is licensed under 
  58.     the Third Party Driver Software License Agreement (SLA) 
  59.     (internal use - no redistribution permitted) and is available from:

  62. * Special driver required for nVIDIA graphics card.

  75. x86 Known Issues

  77. * IDE drives may not work on x86.  Try it, if it doesn't work, it's a 
  78.     known problem.

  80. * Video cards must support VESA 2.0 framebuffer modes on x86.  
  81.     Try it, if your console looks weird, or doesn't appear, it's a 
  82.     known problem.
